Police add there were no injuries, after knife was drawn
Two people from Niagara Falls are facing charges after an attempted robbery at a Walmart store.
Niagara police say they were called last night just after 6:30 to the store on Oakwood Drive in Niagara Falls, to reports of a theft in progress.
Police found a woman tried to evade arrest by store security after it was determined she failed to pay for some items.
A off-duty Niagara police officer then helped with the arrest, to which police say an acquaintance of the woman approached, drew a knife and threatened to stab the officer.
On-duty police arrived, the suspects were detained, and there were no injuries.
Police say 41-year old Jodi Bella Poulin is charged with theft under $5,000.
47-year old Wayne K.J. Griffiths is charged with assaulting an officer with a weapon, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, and uttering threats.
Both were released and are to appear in St. Catharines court early next month.
