OPP says no one was injured after a small plane was forced to conduct an emergency landing on Highway 407.

A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Highway 407 in Markham just before 11:00 a.m. this morning.

The OPP says the plane landed safely in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Woodbine Avenue.

Officials note the plane had taken off from the Buttonville Airport a couple of minutes before being forced to land due to engine problems.

The pilot and instructor were inside the aircraft, which OPP claim was recently maintained.

No one was injured, and there was no damage to the plane or any nearby cars.

Three lanes were closed, but have since been re-opened.
