Canadian Charities Struggling With Lower Revenue, Higher Demand

Poll suggests Canadian charities are having trouble keeping up with rising demands for help and lower revenue

Some troubling news for Canadian charities.

A report from the donation platform Canada Helps suggests charities are buckling under the pressures of higher demand and stalled revenues.

Its survey of about 2,800 non-profits finds about 57 percent can't keep up with the demand for help, and a third are reporting a large drop in revenue.

The Giving Report also points to challenges such as inflation, revenue shortfalls and unprecedented growth in demand.

Another main concern is staff burnout.

About 60 percent of non-profits surveyed reported the same number of paid staff despite higher demand.
