Niagara Falls councillor wants city CAO to meet with other regional cities, instead of competing
A Niagara Falls city councillor hopes for more creative ways to attract doctors to the city and region.
Ruth-Ann Nieuwesteeg says right now regional municipalities outdo each other, whereas she would like to see Niagara Falls' Chief Administrative Officer meet with other cities to discuss ways to attract doctors.
"Maybe we go out ahead of time to meet them at the university, a few years before they graduate, to invite them to our area. Maybe there's a way to help them finance their debt, maybe there's helping them set up their practice. Maybe there's creative ways other than simply handing them money."
She's hoping for more collaboration, rather than competition for doctors.
