Councillors Concerned About Lundy's Lane Safety

Councillor Mona Patel says speeding, crashes impact area businesses, Councillor Tony Baldinelli concerned with kids in certain areas

City of Niagara Falls wants to look at ways to make Lundy's Lane safer.

Councillor Mona Patel brought the idea up at Tuesday's meeting, expressing concern about speeding, crashes, and fatalities, and how this impacts businesses.

Mayor Jim Diodati asked what else needs to be done, after a new speed camera and extra traffic lights were put up.  "There is lots of speeding, and lots of reckless driving.  And lots of distractions, there's hotels and restaurants, and there's so many things, that lots of tourists that don't know the city and they're looking around, it's a tricky street for sure."

Councillor Tony Baldinelli added too many drivers take residential streets to avoid Lundy's Lane.

"They're right up your rear end all the time, and zipping by you.  It's changed over the last 3 or 4-years with congestion, but having drivers who aren't very good drivers are causing a lot of the problems."

Mayor Jim Diodati said it'll be brought to the region, since it is a regional road.
