UPDATE: QEW Reopens Following Horrific Incident in Beamsville

UPDATE 2: Police say all Toronto-bound lanes of the QEW in Beamsville are now open.

 

UPDATE 1: Police say a 28-year-old man from St. Catharines died at the scene.

OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says the man was driving a white Pontiac SUV, when he was involved in a crash this morning.

He pulled over on the left hand side and got out of his vehicle afterwards. 

Schmidt says that's when the man was likely struck by several vehicles. None of them stayed at the scene.

He says police looking for a silver or gold Hyundai or KIA.

They're also on the lookout for a commercial vehicle; likely white in colour with missing wheel caps.

Police also found debris from other vehicles at the scene.

Schmidt would like anyone with information to contact Burlington OPP by calling 905-681-2511.

He says the drivers involved in this incident, may not realize that they hit a person.

All Toronto-bound lanes of the QEW in the area remain closed at this time.

 

Police are looking for witnesses after a pedestrian was hit on the QEW.

The OPP says it happened just before 3:00 a.m. near Ontario Street in Beamsville.

There was a vehicle pulled off to the side, police say it was disabled, or involved in a collison.

The driver was outside their vehicle when they were hit by another vehicle.

Police say it stopped, and then left the scene.

All Toronto-bound lanes of the QEW are closed at Ontario Street in Beamsville.

There's no word yet on when they will re-open.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
