Gates Wants Return of Legislature

Niagara Falls MPP says there's no reason not to go back, especially with problems in Ontario including in health care, education and affordability

Niagara Falls NDP MPP is itching to get back to the Ontario legislature.

Wayne Gates stood at his seat yesterday in the empty chamber, noting the federal government returned yesterday.

He issued this challenge to Premier Ford.  "I'm saying to the government, I'm saying to Premier Ford, and if you agree with me, you can leave a comment... it is time to call the legislature back.  There is no way that we should have not sat in this House for 5 months, it makes absolutely no sense, it's a disgrace."

He added they aren't returning for another 35 days.

"Why that's important, is because, as we know, in the province of Ontario, we have a crisis in health care, we have a crisis in education, we have a crisis in affordability... yet the federal government has gone back to parliament."

He was at Queen's Park yesterday wanting the government to cover prostate cancer blood tests.
