Man Charged in Ft. Erie Domestic Violence

This happened Saturday, that left an NRP officer with serious injuries, he's in stable condition

Getting an update from police concerning that domestic violence case in Fort Erie that happened on Saturday, that left an NRP officer with serious injuries.

Police were called at around noon to a house in the Spears Road area, and about 3-hours later something happened between the officer and suspect.

The officer is now is stable condition, and the suspect had a bail hearing Sunday.

Police have now charged the 45-year old Fort Erie man with:

  • Attempt Murder
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Cause Bodily Harm
  • Criminal Negligence Cause Bodily Harm
  • Impaired Driving Cause Bodily Harm
  • Uttering Threats X2 (Spousal)
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm

Police also found a shotgun in a Fort Erie home.

The woman was not hurt.

Police add the man's name is not being released to protect the identity and privacy of the woman.

The province's Special Investigations Unit is looking into this because the suspect was hurt while interacting with police, therefore no further detail is being released at this time.
