Metrolinx would like to run 11 GO Trains between Niagara Falls and Toronto on a daily basis.
According to the St. Catharines Standard, Metrolinx recently provided the Region with an updated business plan for expanded GO service.
It suggests having six outbound trains travelling from the Falls to Union Station, plus another five inbound trains seven days a week.
This should reduce the travel time from Toronto to Niagara Falls down to 45 minutes. It’s a 15 minute difference compared to train-bus services.
But the report also says the line to and from the Confederation GO Station in Stoney Creek will total $130-million for operating and maintenance costs.
A GO station is also in the works for Casablanca Boulevard in Grimsby.
