Niagara Benefiting from Fire Fighter Investment

Provincial government spending roughly $10-million on training and facilities

The Niagara region is getting a share of a $10-million provincial investment to build five new training facilities for fire fighters.

The facilities will be in Georgina, Orangeville, Newmarket, Clarington and Hanover, with the goal of training over 28,000 firefighers over a five year period.

The Niagara region, along with Toronto and Kingston, will receive just over $970,000 for Fire Ground Survival training, in cooperation with the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association.

The government says this is to meet demands of growing communities, give fire fighters training they need closer to home, and open doors for more people who want to become fire fighters.
