Local family pledges $500,000 to improve cancer care at Niagara Health.
The Niagara Health Foundation has received a large donation for the renovation of the CT Simulator Suite at the Walker Family Cancer Centre of Niagara Health.
The organization says Jeffrey and Lynn Henderson have donated $500,000 towards the renovation, which will make Niagara eligible to receive a new CT Simulator from Cancer Care Ontario.
Before radiation, the simulator acquires images to help doctors determine the best kind of care for cancer patients.
In honour of the gift, Niagara Health will name the CT Simulator area "The Henderson Family CT Simulator Unit."
The room will be dedicated to Jacquie Wing and the memory of Florence Henderson, Lynn and Jeffrey's mothers.
"We are so grateful to Jeffery and Lynn Henderson for their generous gift, which will allow us to upgrade and renovate our CT simulator for the first time since we opened our doors in 2013. CT simulation is at the heart of our ability to deliver radiation treatment accurately, and their gift will enable current and future patients to benefit from the most modern cancer treatments," Dr. Michael Levesque, Chief of Oncology, Niagara Health Medical Director, Walker Family Cancer Centre.
