No Charges Against Niagara Officer After Suspect Injured During Arrest

Suspect diagnosed with fractured clavicle after arrest

The province's Special Investigations Unit will not pursue charges after a man was injured during an arrest.

On October 29th, 2022. Niagara Regional Police officers received a call about a fight in the area of St. Paul and James Streets in St. Catharines.

Police found one of the individuals, and an officer took him to the ground.

The SIU says there was a struggle, but the 24 year-old was eventually subdued.

He was later taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fractured right clavicle.

SIU Director Joseph Martino says there is no evidence to suggest any wrongdoing by police.
