Child care centres in Niagara and beyond will be able to open this Friday.

But Premier Doug Ford says there will be some restrictions in place.

“There will be limits on the amount of children in the centres at one time. There will be more screening and more cleaning and child care centres will be able to re-open once they meet these guidelines.”

Each child care centre will also have to provide their own COVID-19 response plan, just in case a child, parent or staff member is exposed to the virus.

They will also have to keep track of attendance daily, in order to support contact tracing.

Only essential visitors will be allowed into the centres and child drop-off and pick-up protocols will be in place to ensure physical distancing.

Ford says day camps will also be able to open this summer as part of stage two.
