Police Bust Car Smuggling Ring in Hamilton, Niagara

A 43-year old Niagara Falls man charged

A 43-year old Niagara Falls man is charged, with 7 other people, in relation to a car smuggling ring in southern Ontario.

Hamilton police, alongside Niagara and border police, have been working on Project Polar Bear, which has found over 200 vehicles, some cocaine, and devices used to alter car fobs.

Police can be seen at Aapax auto recyclers on Kalar Road in Niagara Falls, where vehicles were found in shipping containers.

Hamilton police say last week they found 14 vehicles, and used 9-search warrants at homes and businesses.

The value of the recovered vehicles is roughly $15-million.

The 2 youngest suspects are 19-years old, one of them is still at large.
