Niagara West MPP says it'll have double the current hospital's operating room capacity.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff says there is lots of progress being made towards the building of the new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Oosterhoff was recently at the site with Infrastructure Minister Kinga Surma, and he says lots of work has been completed towards the construction of the new site.
"You can see the excavators preparing areas for the placement of foundation," he says. "You can see that there's parts of the building that have been removed as they prepare for this new build behind the existing hospital...right now it's a lot of site preparation work."
Oosterhoff notes the new hospital will have many benefits for the community.
"The location will provide in-patient services, out-patient services, emergency services, complex and palliative care, surgeries, maternal and newborn care."
He also says the hospital will only have single patient rooms and will have double the current location's operating room capacity.
The new location is expected to open at the beginning of 2025, though the transition is expected to take months.
