The Niagara region says 3 locations will start taking pictures Wednesday
If you're one of those drivers who likes to try and "slip" through traffic lights, better think twice starting Wednesday.
The Niagara region's red light cameras will start taking your picture at three stop lights that day.
It's been installing and testing a number of them over the last few weeks.
Cameras will be active in Niagara Falls at Stanley and Dunn, in St. Catharines at Niagara Street and Parnell Road, and in Welland at Lincoln and Prince Charles Drive.
There are also 7 others soon to become active.
Grimsby
- Christie Street (Regional Road 12) and South Service Road (Regional Road 40)
Fort Erie
- Garrison Road (Regional Road 3) and Pettit Road / Daytona Drive
Lincoln
- Ontario Street (Regional Road 18) and South Service Road (Regional Road 40)
Niagara Falls
- Lundy's Lane (Regional Road 20) and Garner Road
Pelham
- Highway 20 (Regional Road 20) and Victoria Avenue (Regional Road 24)
St. Catharines
- St. Paul Street (Regional Road 81) and First Street Louth
Welland

The Niagara Region says red light cameras have a proven history of improving intersection safety, in reducing the severity of collisions. It adds this is true for right-angled crashes, which more commonly result in injuries and fatalities.
