Region to Honour Designers in January

One more week to submit to the Niagara Biennial Design Awards, for those who design buildings, landscapes, etc

One week today is the final day for architects, artists, builders and designers to make submissions for the Niagara Biennial Design Awards.

The Region's Manager of Urban Design Khaldoon Ahmad tells us Niagara is a global brand, filled with great talent.

He adds there's been a resurgence in the value of great design.  "Great design has lasting power.  When you invest in great design, you create works that endure.  That has a value for owners, because it makes their project last longer."

The awards ceremony honouring those who design buildings, landscapes and streetscapes is in January.

"We're also talking about student projects, as well.  There are a lot of talented students that live in Niagara, or they are doing projects in Niagara, and we want to celebrate their works."

He says not only do designers in Niagara do great work, but they partner with others from beyond the region.
