Lincoln CAO says it took a lot of effort for a prank

It's a head scratcher for Lincoln's Chief Administrative Officer after someone took a roadside welcome sign down and put it up near Woodstock.

Michael Kirkpatrick says when Norwich Township showed them pictures, they figured the pictures might be fake.

But someone did take down the Norwich sign and replace it with the Lincoln sign.  "Someone had to go to a lot of effort, to take the sign down, to put it in a large enough vehicle to transport it up there.  And Norwich to Lincoln is about 100kms... a lot of work for something that I think we all think is some type of prank."

He says the sign was unscrewed from its perch near the Lincoln/Grimsby border, by the new high school.

"We have searched most of our particular sign locations, and don't see a Norwich sign, anywhere down here.  So, not sure where their sign is actually moved to.  Their public works is still searching for their sign."

Norwich Township Chief Administrative Officer Lee Robinson says they have no idea where theirs is.  "I was first made aware of it on Saturday when our road staff became aware of it as well. Probably through the same method as other people, we learned about it on social media."

She adds this type of prank costs taxpayer money to replace.   "At this time we have not filed a police report with respect to the missing sign, with Oxford."
