Niagara Region Salutes Veterans

There were numerous services, including in Port Colborne where the mayor spoke to those who didn't come home

Remembrance Day services were held globally, nationally and locally throughout the Niagara Region.

In Port Colborne, veterans were honoured with a moment of silence, including speeches by dignitaries including Mayor Bill Steele.

He honoured the signing of the Armistice to end World War 1, over 100 years later.  "Yet, still, 20 years after signing the Armistice, there was a 2nd World War, a terrible war, in which our grandfathers and fathers, including mine, signed up to fight for our freedom.  My dad did come home, but many dads, uncles, brothers, sisters, did not."

There were services in Fort Erie, St. Catharines and elsewhere.
