A reminder for motorists who cross one of the Welland Canal Bridges to get to work or school
The canal system officially opened this morning.
The traditional top hat ceremony will go virtual because of the pandemic.
Typically the captain of the first downbound vessel in the Canal is presented with a ceremonial beaver fur top hat from the 1890's
A replica hat will be sent to the captain this year instead.
The ceremony kicks off at 8 this morning.
