Environment Canada upgrades snowfall totals for region
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for Niagara.
Forecasters say we could see anywhere from 20-to-30 cm of snow.
Snow is expected to begin this morning. Forecasters say there could be freezing drizzle mixed with the snow at times this evening. Heaviest snowfall periods could see 3-to-6 cm fall per hour.
Environment Canada says conditions will rapidly deteriorate Sunday and travel is not recommended. The storm should begin to move out of the area Sunday night.
Due to the anticipated snowfall, The City of St. Catharines has implemented their S'no parking restrictions effective today (Saturday) at noon.
The City of Niagara Falls says temporary overnight parking will also not be permitted on any city streets from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. from Friday, February 14th, to Monday, February 17th.
Overnight parking permits are not valid during snow plowing operations, and vehicles on the street are subject to ticketing.
Residents are reminded to avoid parking on the street during winter storms to help our crews work more efficiently.
