Canada advances in women's soccer at the Paris Olympics

Canada has advanced to the women's soccer quarterfinals after defeating Colombia 1-0.

It was a must win situation for the Canadian squad after a sports arbitration court dismissed Canada's appeal of a six-point penalty against its Olympic women's soccer team.

A report by the FIFA Appeals Committee suggested drone spying may have been "systemically embedded" in the culture of the women’s national team.

Vanessa Gilles scored the lone second half goal for Canada.
