Citizen Committee to Address Regional Councillor Pay

It looks like Niagara's Regional Councillors will not be getting a raise, for now.
Instead of approving a pay hike, Region Council decided that a citizen committee should take a look at the matter.
It will include five members of the public and one Region staff member.
They will have to report back to council in November.
Council was looking over a 2.9 percent pay hike, which would have boosted the councillors salaries to $38,400 from $32,900.
It would have offset new tax changes. One third of their income can no longer be non-taxable.
