More Money for Mental Health and Addictions Services

The Ford Government is setting aside $174 million for mental health and addictions services.

Almost $30 million will go towards children and youth, while more than $27 million will fund supports in the education system.

The funding allocations include the following Niagara based programs and services;

Niagara Health System
- Eight beds for inpatient mental health.
$430,981 for opioids addictions and treatment services.

Hamilton Health Sciences, West Niagara Mental Health Program
- $122,000 for youth residential treatment and withdrawal management.

Regional Municipality of Niagara (Niagara Centre)
- $58,833 for peer support services.
- $102,407 for early psychosis intervention.

Gateway Residential and Community Support Services of Niagara (Niagara Centre)
- $22,770 funding increase for rent supplement supportive housing program.

Centre de Santé (Niagara Centre)
- $90,000 for child and youth mental health

Niagara Training & Employment Agency
- $25,850 for child and youth mental health

Community Addictions Services of Niagara (St. Catharines)
- $150,000 for youth and residential treatment and withdrawal management.
- $40,000 for community addictions services.

Canadian Mental Health Association Niagara (St. Catharines)
- $50,000 for MHJ safe beds.
- $100,000 for MHJ addictions and withdrawal management for safe beds.
- $142,500 for MJH LHIN managed supportive housing.
- $73,300 MJH ministry managed supportive housing 
- $30,360 funding increase for rent supplement supportive housing program

Pathstone Mental Health (St. Catharines)
- $182,405 in total.
- $58, 833 for child and youth mental health.

Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff says this is just the beginning.

"These investments are part of our government’s commitment to invest $3.8 billion over the next 10 years to develop and implement a comprehensive and connected mental health and addictions strategy."
