The NRP is warning the public about distraction thefts in the Niagara Region.
Shortly after leaving a checkout, officers say the victim is usually approached by another person.
This individual will ask if they dropped any cash and the victim may notice cards missing from their wallet afterwards.
Officers say you should always be aware of your surroundings while paying at the checkout and while talking to strangers. It’s also a good idea to conceal your PIN number as much as possible.
You should report any suspicious behavior to police.
