The Wainfleet Fire Chief is reporting a 59 percent failure rate, after the department conducted a residential smoke and carbon monoxide alarm blitz earlier this week.
In a post on his Twitter page, Morgan Alcock says firefighters stopped by 86 homes on Monday.
But they were only able to conduct 37 inspections total, and 22 of them failed.
Firefighters found expired alarms in 12 of of the homes.
