Remove the Red Tape Before Installing Smoke Alarms

If you just moved into a brand new home, you might want to check the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
Niagara Falls firefighters stopped by a woman's home to check out one of her smoke detectors and found protective red tape around the base.
This can prevent the alarm from doing it's job.
Chief Jim Boutilier says the same issue was found in other homes in the neighbourhood.
